Dominic Frimpong, a winger for Berekum Chelsea, has tragically lost his life following an armed robbery on his team’s bus while returning from a Ghana Premier League match against Samartex on Sunday, according to the Ghana Football Association.
The assailants opened fire on the bus as it attempted to reverse, striking the 20-year-old Frimpong in the head. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital, becoming the sole reported victim of this incident.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Dominic Frimpong’s untimely passing,” it stated.
“This incident has reverberated throughout the football community. The GFA expresses its heartfelt sympathies to the family of the deceased, his teammates, coaching staff, management, and everyone associated with Berekum Chelsea during this incredibly challenging time.”
