Jason Day takes it all in his stride as he heads into the final round of the 2026 Masters, presenting a genuine opportunity to become just the second Australian to don the coveted green jacket.
Starting the third round a hefty eight shots adrift of Rory McIlroy, Day (-8) is now poised to tee off on Monday morning (5.03am) with the deficit reduced to just three shots against both defending champion McIlroy and fellow American Cam Young (both at -11).
Along with Day, the only other competitors ahead of him heading into the final round include American Sam Burns (-10) and former Open champion Shane Lowry (-9).

Sharing Day’s score and set to be his playing partner for the final round is Justin Rose, who narrowly missed out in last year’s playoff.
“I believe the leaders right now are the ones under the most pressure,” Day commented.
“I’m the one chasing. Usually, those in pursuit don’t carry as much pressure. The players at the top of the leaderboard are constantly trying to defend their lead while I’m looking to make up ground.”
“I’m feeling confident in my game. I’m genuinely pleased with where things stand and I’m eager for the challenge ahead.”
“If I can position myself near the leaders on the back nine, I’ll be extremely satisfied.”
Adam Scott holds the distinction of being the only Australian to have secured golf’s greatest accolade, triumphing in 2013.
