The ACT Brumbies sparked new energy into their season with a remarkable come-from-behind victory, clinching a 14-10 win over the Highlanders in Dunedin on Friday night.
Matches played indoors in New Zealand’s southern region are typically thrilling and high-scoring, but this encounter turned out to be a traditional contest defined by hard-fought intensity, ultimately secured by the composure of Luke Reimer.
The often-overlooked flanker was brought onto the field earlier than planned to replace Charlie Cale in the first half, and he earned the winning try in the 75th minute.

Reimer squeezed through a tight defence following a yellow card shown to Highlanders substitute hooker Henry Bell, which provided a crucial opportunity for the Brumbies to capitalise.
Brumbies skipper Ryan Lonergan scored a try himself in his milestone 100th game, while his brother Lachlan made his first appearance in the Super Rugby season.
This victory has propelled the Brumbies to third place on the ladder, just behind the Hurricanes and Blues, who are scheduled to meet in Wellington on Saturday.

“We’ve been open and honest with each other. Our performances against Aussie teams have let us down,” Reimer remarked during an interview with former Highlanders lock Joe Wheeler.
“Perhaps we’ve become a bit too complacent, but our primary aim remains to win the competition. However, that won’t happen if we don’t keep stringing wins together.”
The Brumbies have now secured their sixth consecutive victory over the Highlanders.
