Paris Saint-Germain have already secured their Ligue 1 title, but as they strive for what could be the most outstanding season in the club’s history, manager Luis Enrique stressed on Monday that maintaining player motivation is crucial at this stage of the campaign.
While PSG’s primary goal is to clinch their inaugural Champions League trophy, with a semi-final clash against Arsenal on the horizon, they also aim to defend their Coupe de France title against Stade de Reims in the final. Nevertheless, Ligue 1 still holds significant value.
Luis Enrique’s squad has the opportunity to become the first team to go unbeaten in a Ligue 1 season, and if they avoid defeat against Nantes on Tuesday, they will surpass AC Milan’s record of 38 consecutive away matches without a loss.
“We are extremely motivated as we aim to achieve a record for the European teams in the top five leagues with the longest unbeaten run away from home,” Luis Enrique shared with the media.
“There’s no doubt we are keen on securing our unbeaten title.”
“Regarding the league standings, Nantes are also highly motivated, so we are well aware of the challenge ahead.”

The manager has successfully rotated his starting eleven, making nine changes for Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Le Havre following their Champions League match against Aston Villa last week. This strategy is vital for optimising the performance of the entire squad.
“Undoubtedly, that is the challenge currently facing us, and it is indeed a challenge for coaches,” he remarked.
“Motivating everyone can be quite challenging, especially for those who are less involved, but I feel fortunate because my players are responding excellently and delivering high-quality performances.”
“I wish they could all get more playing time, but that’s difficult as it would mean sidelining high-calibre players.”
In addition to involving as many players as possible, ensuring they have adequate rest has been a priority for the treble-hunting club.
“Managing the physical and emotional workload is essential,” Luis Enrique said.
“This applies to teams that are constantly in action and compete every three days, making days off significant. When you grant a player a day off, it is crucial.”
“I believe we have one of the teams that enjoyed the longest Christmas break. We had 10 days and provided the players two weeks off whenever we could, allowing them to fully benefit from it.”
PSG have five league fixtures remaining, facing a Nantes team still fighting for survival, currently sitting 14th on the ladder and three points above the relegation zone.
