Barcelona squandered the opportunity to increase their advantage in the LaLiga table after settling for a 1-1 draw against Real Betis on Saturday. Following the lacklustre result, coach Hansi Flick (60) urged his team to move forward.
This stalemate leaves Barca on 67 points, maintaining a four-point lead over their rivals Real Madrid, who suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Valencia earlier in the day. Atletico Madrid trails in third place with 57 points and eight matches remaining.
“We did everything we could to secure a win, but it just didn’t happen,” Flick shared with reporters. “We were a bit unfortunate in front of goal, yet we played well.”
“On days like today, when scoring eludes you, it’s essential to accept it and maintain a positive outlook. I’m proud that we put in a strong effort and controlled the game.”
Flick expressed confidence in his squad as they enter the latter stages of a season where they are vying for three trophies.
In addition to leading LaLiga, Barcelona remains a contender for both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League titles.
“We can take pride in what the players have achieved in recent matches,” stated Flick.
“We are in the final of the (Copa del Rey), and even with the draw, we’ve managed to extend our lead at the top. I’m pleased—it’s a brilliant situation to be in.”
