Brisbane Roar etched their name in the history books by triumphing over the Singapore Women’s Premier League (WPL) All-Stars with a resounding scoreline of 7-1 in a notable friendly encounter.
On their inaugural overseas tour in Singapore, Brisbane’s Ninja A-League team showcased their prowess in front of more than 2,000 enthusiastic fans during the international break on Friday evening.
Singaporean stars Danelle Tan, Evodokia Popadinova, Tamar Levin, Emily Pringle, and Daisy Brown all found the back of the net, contributing to a memorable match.
“When you glance up at the stands, you see all these young boys and girls,” Tan remarked in an interview with The Straits Times.
“Their support is incredible; they’ve taken time off their Friday evening just to come out and cheer for a match like this.”
“Looking around and noticing the amazing support we receive has been nothing short of incredible.”
Roar goalkeeper Emma Gibbon expressed: “It’s fantastic to serve as a role model for children who aspire to become professional soccer players one day.”
“Perhaps they’ve never witnessed athletes of our calibre, and this might inspire them to play in Australia someday.”
