Hammarby delivered a stunning 8-1 thrashing to Orgryte, ending the newly-promoted side’s unbeaten run in the Allsvenskan. Meanwhile, the champions Mjallby found their rhythm with a commanding 3-0 victory over Brommapojkarna, and Sirius maintained their perfect start to the season.
Hammarby 8-1 Orgryte
After a convincing win against Mjallby on the opening matchday, the title favourites for 2026 faced a sobering defeat at the hands of Sirius last week. On the other hand, Orgryte had begun their top-flight campaign with a draw against Malmo and a surprising win over Mjallby, setting high hopes for their return.
However, battling a Hammarby side keen to showcase their abilities proved to be a nightmare scenario for Orgryte. It all kicked off 11 minutes in, when Markus Karlsson set up Noah Persson, who launched an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards out.
Persson then turned into a playmaker just seven minutes later, delivering a corner that Nahir Besara volleyed home at the back post. Paulos Abraham added to the tally midway through the first half, tapping in after Victor Lind created chaos in the defence.
Orgryte appeared to perk up ten minutes later when Christoffer Styffe headed in a rebound from a free-kick, but Hammarby responded swiftly to restore their three-goal advantage just a minute after, with Lind scoring his debut goal for the club with a powerful strike across the keeper.
Hammarby had to wait until 12 minutes into the second half for their fifth goal, but the wait was worth it; Besara set up Montader Madjed, who cut inside from the right and curled a stunning shot over Hampus Gustafsson.
In the final 20 minutes, Nikola Vasic took centre stage – just ten minutes after coming on, he latched onto a precise through ball from Frank Adjei and slotted home. Gustafsson’s day turned sour when he was dispossessed by Lind, who squared for Vasic’s clinical finish.
With just five minutes remaining, a low cross from Lind allowed Vasic to tap in his hat-trick from close range, securing Hammarby’s largest victory in the Allsvenskan since 2008. Even this early in the season, Bajen find themselves striving for a top-three position!
Sirius 4-1 Vasteras
Sirius showcased their potential by rising to the top of the table with nine points from three matches, sealing their latest triumph with a solid first-half performance against fellow newcomers, Vasteras.
The deadlock was broken just eight minutes in when Oscar Krusnell was fouled in the box by Simon Gefvert following a slick one-two with Robbie Ure, leading Isak Bjerkebo to calmly convert the penalty.
Bjerkebo doubled his tally from the spot just after the half-hour mark, as Frederic Nsabiyumva handled a Matthias Nartey shot in the box. With a repeat of his first penalty, Bjerkebo sent goalkeeper Elis Jager the wrong way.
Vasteras came close to clawing one back when they struck the post, but in first-half stoppage time, a deep cross led to an unfortunate scramble in their box, resulting in Tobias Anker forcing the ball over the line.
The visitors did manage to pull one back eight minutes into the second half, as Nsabiyumva redeemed himself by heading in Marcus Baggesen’s corner, but just nine minutes later, it was game over when Krusnell’s assist from a free-kick found Henrik Castegren, who finished well.
Blasvart are assured of a two-point lead by the end of the round, while Vasteras, like Orgryte, sit on four points after their unbeaten start was emphatically halted.
Mjallby 3-0 Brommapojkarna
After a shaky beginning, Mjallby recorded their first league win under coach Karl Marius Aksum, wrapping up the match against Brommapojkarna in the first half.
Five minutes into the game, nerves subsided at Strandvallen when Ludwig Thorell found space in the box to curl the ball into the bottom corner. They further asserted their dominance in the 28th minute when Elliot Stroud’s low cross was turned in by Jacob Bergstrom.
The victory was all but secured five minutes later when Jesper Gustavsson supplied Abdoulie Manneh at the edge of the box, and he blasted a powerful shot in off the post. This win lifted the champions off the bottom of the table, surpassing BP, whose run of consecutive draws has come to an end.
Halmstad 1-1 Goteborg
In the final encounter on Saturday, Halmstad and Goteborg each picked up their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw.
Just after the hour mark, Ludvig Arvidsson’s through ball found Omar Faraj, who tapped it in at the near post to grant Halmstad the lead. However, Goteborg quickly answered two minutes later when Tobias Heintz scored from a header across goal by Saidou Alioum.
This marked the Gothenburg side’s first goal of the season, but it did little to alleviate the pressure, as they face their worst start of the season since 2023, when they narrowly escaped relegation. Halmstad are currently sitting 13th, just above the Angels on goal difference.
