Brisbane Roar’s shining star Laini Freier has marked her inaugural selection for the CommBank Matildas with a two-year extension to her contract.
Freier is set to continue her journey with the Roar until the conclusion of the 2026-27 Ninja A-League season, following a sensational start to her professional career.
The 23-year-old, who is the twin sister of Sharn—soon to join Wolfsburg—has made a striking impact, netting seven goals and contributing two assists in her opening 10 matches. This impressive run has earned her a call-up for this month’s SheBelieves Cup in the United States.

“It’s been an incredible experience playing alongside my sister at this level, and I take pride in representing my hometown in front of my family and friends,” stated Freier, who made history in the Ninja A-League by scoring consecutive hat-tricks earlier this season.
“Having spent a lot of time in the NPL, playing in the A-League has always been a dream of mine.”
“I’m thankful for the amazing girls in the squad and the opportunity to learn from those with more experience. I’m excited to spend another couple of seasons with the Roar.”
