The first surviving foal of racing icon Winx has officially been retired without ever stepping onto the racetrack.
Named Quinceanera, the filly was acquired for a staggering $10 million by owner Debbie Kepitis and will soon transition to the broodmare barn following advice from veterinarians and trainer Chris Waller.
A statement from Woppitt Bloodstock was shared on social media confirming that the three-year-old would not take part in any races.
“While it’s disappointing, it is undoubtedly in her best interests to commence her new career as a broodmare,” the statement on X read.
Quinceanera, sired by the celebrated stallion Pierro, was Winx’s second foal but the first to survive, as her initial foal—a filly by I Am Invincible—did not make it.
As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, the acquisition of Quinceanera saw a fierce bidding contest unfold between American billionaire John Stewart and Winx’s co-owner, Kepitis, with the latter ultimately triumphing at a record-breaking eight-figure price.
Winx, affectionately dubbed “The Mighty Mare,” amassed an unprecedented 25 Group 1 victories and a total of 33 races in succession before her retirement in 2019.

Quinceanera had faced several challenges during her time at Waller’s Rosehill stable, including a temperature and a brief episode of colic earlier in 2025, as noted by the Herald.
Kepitis was part of a group of three owners who collectively paid $230,000 for Winx, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest racehorses in history, earning over $26.4 million in prize money.
