On Easter Sunday, Thomas Randle and siblings Ben and Michael Kavich celebrated a remarkable triumph at the 2026 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour, navigating late-race challenges to achieve their first outright victory.
Behind the wheel of the Team Thryv Race For A Cure Class X Ultimate Performance BMW M2 Competition, Randle crossed the finish line in second place after being overtaken by Cameron Hill in Dean Campbell’s BMW during the final moments of the race.

However, a 15-second penalty handed to Hill and Campbell relegated them to fifth place, thereby awarding the victory to the Kavich/Randle team.
This win marked a significant milestone for the Kavich brothers, who had participated in all ten editions of this race before finally clinching outright success. Their victory also maintained BMW’s dominant streak in the event, with ten consecutive wins since 2016.
Michael shared his elation after the race, expressing what it felt like to realise a lifelong aspiration.
“It’s unbelievable, what an incredible job Tommy [Randle] did, he’s like a brother from another mother,” said Kavich. “We’re absolutely thrilled; we’ve dreamed about this since we were kids watching our dad race and witnessing legends like Brock and Johnson. Achieving something we’ve wished for since childhood is just astounding.”

The race itself was thrilling, featuring eleven safety cars, 13 lead changes, and eight different drivers leading the pack.
Cameron McLeod secured second place in a Ford Mustang after Josh Muggleton, who was sharing a Chevrolet Camaro with Chris Lillis and Zach Bates, had a mishap at The Chase on the final lap.
Muggleton managed to recover and finish third, while Tim Slade and the duo of Tony and Kyle Alford rounded out the top four.
Hill and Campbell concluded the event in fifth, just ahead of Hadrian Morrall and Tyler Mecklem, who struggled without fourth gear for much of the race in their Mustang.

Taking seventh overall and securing the A2 Extreme Performance (Forced Induction) class victory were Oliver and Liam Loiacono along with Alex Holzl in their Mitsubishi Evo X, narrowly beating Cameron Laws, Cody Gillis, and Leon Cordoto. Following penalties, Amar Sharma, Grant Johnson, and Jack Le Brocq claimed ninth, with Ric and Tom Shaw and Zaki Wazir rounding out the top ten.
Class achievements included Karlie Buccini, Courtney Prince, and Tabitha Ambrose winning B1 for a third consecutive year, while Richard Shinkfield, Andrew Milford, and Chris Holdt topped B2.
Trevor and James Keene took Class C honours in a Volkswagen Golf R, with Andrew McMaster’s team triumphing in Class D. In Class E, young drivers Ruben Dan and Ashton Seiders teamed up with 71-year-old Calvin Gardner to secure victory in a Mazda 3 SP25.
With an overall attendance of 20,216, this year’s event marked the second highest turnout on record for the Bathurst 6 Hour.
The Bathurst 6 Hour and the Bathurst Regional Council have also announced a new five-year agreement to extend the Easter endurance race through to 2031, ensuring this important motorsport fixture on the Mountain continues into the future.
