The Tasmanian Government has announced funding to enhance the Australian Rally Championship’s presence in Tasmania, commencing in 2025. This news coincides with the kick-off of the Bosch Motorsport Australian Rally Championship season finale this weekend at the Buckby Motors Rally Tasmania in Burnie.
Nick Duigan, Minister for Sports and Events, stated that the Tasmanian Government has consistently supported the events sector, investing in initiatives that attract, retain, and develop events which stimulate economic growth, boost tourism, and create jobs across the State.
“We are delighted to have allocated a total of $300,000 to host one round of the Australian Rally Championship in Tasmania annually from 2025 to 2027,” Duigan expressed.
“We understand that attracting visitors to our regions is crucial, which is why the Government has dedicated approximately $68 million over the next four years to bolster our events sector.”
“It’s clear that the Tasmanian events calendar for 2025 and beyond is shaping up to be impressive.”

Motorsport Australia’s CEO, Sunil Vohra, welcomed the Tasmanian Government’s backing for the Australian Rally Championship.
“The Tasmanian Government’s support underscores the region’s vibrant engagement in motorsport and reflects their dedication to advancing rallying in Tasmania,” Vohra stated.
“We are eager to collaborate with Events Tasmania and the Tasmanian Government to present a top-notch rally event.”
In partnership with Innate Event Group (IEG), Motorsport Australia will continue to manage the Australian Rally Championship, with all six event organisers from 2024 reaffirming their commitment for the 2025 season.

Adrian Coppin, IEG Director & ARC Championship Manager, expressed enthusiasm regarding the support from the Tasmanian Government.
