Unlucky young star Jonah Pezet has suffered another injury setback after playing just 40 minutes in his return to the field last weekend.
The talented Storm halfback, who had been out for nearly a year due to an ACL tear, made his comeback for the North Sydney Bears in round four.
Pezet appeared promising in the initial stages against the Dragons but did not take the field for the second half of the NSW Cup match.
It has now been confirmed that the 22-year-old is set to undergo surgery for a knee injury and may be out for as long as three months.

“Jonah played 40 minutes for the Bears and did exceptionally well in his first match back in nearly a year. He will have minor surgery this week to stabilise his knee,” said Frank Ponissi, Melbourne’s general manager of football, in a statement.
“I want to commend Jonah on how he’s handled this latest setback. He has stayed positive throughout and is determined to put in the effort needed to come back.”

Pezet is considered one of the brightest young playmakers in the NRL, yet he has been limited to just 10 appearances for the Storm since making his debut in 2023.
In 2022, Pezet was rumoured to be joining the Newcastle Knights but chose to sign a long-term extension with Melbourne, keeping him with the club until the end of 2029, despite finding himself behind Cameron Munster and Jahrome Hughes in the halves.
On a more positive note for the Storm, the aforementioned Hughes is aiming for an early return from a hand injury in time for the round five battle against Manly.
Meanwhile, Nelson Asofa-Solomona remains unavailable as he has not passed concussion protocols.
