Former England international Raheem Sterling is allegedly poised to depart Feyenoord following the conclusion of the current season.
The 31-year-old Raheem Sterling joined Feyenoord on a temporary basis in February after being released by Chelsea. However, after 333 minutes on the pitch across four starts, Sterling has yet to find the back of the net and has managed a mere single assist, failing to meet expectations or recapture his previous form.
On Tuesday, Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad reported that Sterling’s stint in Rotterdam will last just four months. The Englishman was an unused substitute during Feyenoord’s recent 2-2 draw against NEC Nijmegen, indicating that he has not been able to make the desired impact at the club.
Under the guidance of Robin van Persie, Feyenoord is currently vying for a second-place finish, which would secure them a spot in the League Phase of the upcoming UEFA Champions League. In Sterling’s final four fixtures for the red and white team, they will face FC Groningen, Fortuna Sittard, AZ, and PEC Zwolle, as they aim to maintain their 1-point advantage over KNVB Beker finalists NEC Nijmegen.
