Reports suggest that Liverpool manager Arne Slot is likely to remain with the Merseyside club, despite growing calls for his departure.
Having secured the Premier League title in his first season in charge, the 47-year-old Dutchman has faced criticism for the team’s inability to compete with the top sides in the league this season. Currently, the Reds sit in fifth place, trailing leaders Arsenal by a significant 15 points.
As per Sky Sports, Arne Slot is expected to continue as Liverpool’s manager, even after a disappointing league campaign that has seen the team fail to lift any silverware. Nevertheless, a seven-point lead over Chelsea positions Liverpool well for potential qualification into next season’s UEFA Champions League group stages.
Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher commented on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, highlighting the likelihood of Slot remaining at the helm.
“There seems to be a divided opinion among Liverpool fans regarding his future, but from the conversations I’m having, it appears Slot will be retained as manager next season, assuming they manage to clinch Champions League qualification, which looks promising at this stage,” Carragher shared during the broadcast.
Earlier in April, Slot expressed confidence in the backing he has received from both the club’s board and the supporters: “Everyone at the club is aware of our current position, but I still feel their unwavering support. Odd as it may sound, I also sense considerable backing from the fans,” he stated during a press conference prior to the match against Fulham on April 11th.

In the 2025/26 season, Liverpool has played over 52 matches in total, with 27 wins and 18 losses, netting 94 goals while conceding 71. The club was recently eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain, who triumphed 4-0 across two legs in the quarter-final.
Arne Slot’s contract with Liverpool extends until June 2027.
