PSV Eindhoven delivered an unforgettable performance, overturning a first-leg deficit to secure their spot in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, following a 3-1 victory that eliminated Juventus from the tournament.
The match kicked off with an electric atmosphere in the Philips Stadion, yet the initial 20 minutes passed without any clear-cut opportunities for either team, as the visitors held firm against an early PSV charge.
With both goalkeepers having a relatively calm start, it was Walter Benitez of PSV who was forced into action first, parrying a deflected shot from Andrea Cambiaso comfortably.
This solitary effort on target for the first half left Thiago Motta, the Juventus manager, content as his side effectively managed the early intensity of the match.
After a mere four attempts in the opening half, PSV came alive shortly after the break, taking two shots in three minutes. Ivan Perisic aimed to duplicate his first-leg goal but was thwarted by Michele Di Gregorio, while Noa Lang fired into the side-netting from a difficult position.
The second half began with a bang as Randal Kolo Muani missed Juve’s first significant chance, paving the way for Perisic to open the scoring with a display of exceptional skill.

Lang initiated the play by cutting inside from the left and delivering a precise ball to the Croatian, whose impeccable first touch allowed him to volley the ball fiercely and low into the far corner beyond the goalkeeper.
Once again, Juventus found themselves under immense pressure from PSV, but their defence held strong, with Federico Gatti making crucial interventions, notably clearing a goal-bound header from Luuk de Jong.
This resolute defensive display became even more significant when Timothy Weah unleashed a powerful half-volley from the edge of the area, restoring Juventus’ aggregate lead.
As the match evolved into a thrilling spectacle of Champions League knockout football, Ismael Saibari expertly timed his run into the box to scramble a deflected cross home, sending the contest into extra time.
Despite a temporary lull in intensity during extra time, PSV maintained control and nearly took the aggregate lead when Saibari was denied by Di Gregorio with a tight-angle shot.
However, this was merely a delay, as in the 98th minute, Ryan Flamingo capitalised on a chaotic situation in the Juventus box to tap in from close range.
As if the drama wasn’t over, Dusan Vlahovic nearly equalised when he struck the post from close range, yet PSV managed to hold on and will advance to the Last 16 to face either Inter Milan or Arsenal.
