Aleksandar Mitrović’s Al Rayyan has clinched their inaugural QSL Cup title, with the striker netting a goal in a 2-0 triumph over Muaither SC during the final.
Roger Guedes initiated the scoring in the dying moments of the first half, deftly finding the net after showcasing remarkable skill to outpace the keeper.
Just eight minutes following the restart, Serbian international Mitrović increased the advantage by converting a header from a free-kick.
Muaither struggled to respond throughout the match, with Al Rayyan maintaining a firm grip on the proceedings until the final whistle, securing their first piece of silverware since 2018.
Reflecting on the victory, Mitrović remarked: “The sensation is incredible. We have put in a tremendous amount of effort for this. It’s been a long season, and we’ve made it to the final.
“We are extremely pleased as we dedicated ourselves to this, and I hope it serves as a significant boost for us moving forward. This will provide us with the confidence to aim for more trophies.
“I’m truly delighted for this final. After quite some time, we’ve succeeded in bringing a trophy to the club.”
“Our goal is to secure at least one trophy,” he noted back in March.
“Over the past few years, the team has experienced a lot of misfortune, coming close to winning several trophies but never quite managing to secure them. I hope the goals I score will play a crucial role in earning a trophy for the club.”
