Leeds United will face Chelsea in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at the end of the month, while Southampton is set to take on Manchester City.
Leeds appeared to be cruising at 2-0 as they approached injury time in Sunday’s quarter-final, but a late double from West Ham sent the match into extra time. Nonetheless, Leeds kept their composure and triumphed in the penalty shootout, securing a spot in the semi-finals against Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Southampton’s reward for their victory over league leaders Arsenal is a semi-final clash with Manchester City, who convincingly dispatched Liverpool with a 4-0 win in their quarter-final on Saturday.
The matches will take place at Wembley on the 25th and 26th of April.
“Playing against Chelsea is always going to be tough,” Dominic Calvert-Lewin remarked to TNT Sports following the draw.
“They’re a strong side, but it’s the FA Cup, and we’re heading to Wembley. I’m thrilled. I’ve never had the chance to play at Wembley for my club before, so this is a significant opportunity for me.”
“When the score went to 2-2, I thought perhaps it wasn’t meant to be, but thankfully we persevered and clinched the win.”
