Olympique Lyonnais continued their dismal streak, going nine matches without a win across all competitions (D4, L5) following a goalless draw against Angers SCO in Ligue 1.
Lyon aimed to secure their seventh consecutive head-to-head victory over Angers, yet struggled to leave a significant mark during a first half that featured scant scoring chances.
Afonso Moreira had a fleeting opportunity early on, but his effort was blocked. The solitary shot on target came from Ainsley Maitland-Niles midway through the first half, which was easily dealt with by Hervé Koffi.
Les Noirs et Blancs, having scored just twice in their last six matches, struggled in the offensive zone, with Jordan Lefort’s header from a corner sailing over the bar. That was their most promising chance in an otherwise uneventful first half.
Lyon came out in the second half with renewed intensity, particularly when Corentin Tolisso was given space at the edge of the area to shoot. However, the Lyon captain was thwarted as Koffi was well positioned to make a solid save.
Shortly after, Pavel Sulc’s effort from close range went wide, as the visitors failed to capitalise and take the lead.
Moreira, one of the brightest sparks on the pitch, made a strong run in from the left flank but sent his shot into the stands.
As both teams introduced substitutes in the latter stages, none could make a decisive impact to alter the scoreline.
Angers sits in 12th place in the table, maintaining a respectable record with the fifth-fewest home goals allowed in the league, totalling 16.
Meanwhile, Lyon has slipped from the Champions League qualifying positions, largely due to their ongoing struggle to secure a victory, having not triumphed since mid-February.
