Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham (21) has praised the performance of Rodrygo (24) in the Champions League victory over Manchester City.
Kylian Mbappe netted a hat-trick, leading Real to a 3-1 triumph and a 6-3 aggregate win in the round of 16 playoffs.
However, Bellingham emphasised that Rodrygo also deserved accolades for his contributions during the match.
He remarked afterwards: “Pff… Rodrygo is quite underappreciated. In my eyes, he’s the most gifted player in the squad.
“The skills he displays with the ball are simply incredible… I watch him and wonder, ‘how does he manage that?’ If I attempted something similar, I’d likely end up injuring myself. It’s a joy to play alongside him. I believe he’s the biggest team player.
“We all know his preferred position is on the left. Yet he contributes significantly from the right, even though it’s not where he feels most comfortable. He never voices a complaint.”
Commenting on Mbappe, Bellingham added: “Everybody knows he’s exceptional. His beginning was tough, facing a lot of pressure at a new club. But once the goals started flowing… He operates on an entirely different level.
“The amount of confidence he possesses means you can pass him the ball in any circumstance. His pace and his link-up play with Vini must be nightmarish for defenders to deal with.”
