Following the draw in the Stockholm Derby between Djurgarden and Hammarby, the Gothenburg Derby also ended in a stalemate as Goteborg and GAIS shared the spoils. Meanwhile, Vasteras achieved their second victory since their promotion, triumphing over Brommapojkarna.
Goteborg 2-2 GAIS
Both Gothenburg sides, who finished the 2025 season on a high note, remain winless in the current 2026 campaign, as Goteborg took an early lead before eventually equalising against GAIS at home.
The home team went ahead just after the 25-minute mark, thanks to Rockson Yeboah’s spectacular bicycle kick after GAIS struggled to clear a free-kick delivered into their box.
However, the game took a dramatic turn with two goals in just six minutes shortly after the hour mark – Max Andersson found the bottom corner after receiving a pass that was deflected back to him, before GAIS took the lead with William Milovanovic’s stunning curling shot into the top corner from inside the box.
Yet, the Mackerels’ advantage was short-lived as it lasted only three minutes. Adam Bergmark-Wiberg set up Kruse, who struck a powerful shot from 25 yards to ensure Goteborg walked away with a point, marking their third consecutive draw, while GAIS also notch up their second stalemate in a row.
Brommapojkarna 1-2 Vasteras
Following their victory against fellow newly-promoted team Kalmar on the opening day, Vasteras notched their first win against a seasoned Allsvenskan side, securing a 2-1 away win over Brommapojkarna, who failed to capitalise on their previous triumph.
The visitors got off to an incredible start, scoring just three minutes in when Ismet Lushaku’s right-wing cross was deftly headed in by Philip Bonde. However, Brommapojkarna quickly responded, levelling the match with Oliver Berg unleashing a powerful 25-yard strike into the top corner just four minutes later.
Just before the hour mark, Vasteras found the net for what would ultimately be the winning goal, reverting to their effective strategy – this time, Lushaku’s cross came from the left, and Bonde was on target again with a precise header to the far post.
With this win, Vasteras sit fifth in the standings with eight points, while Brommapojkarna trail by three points and five places lower.
