The excitement surrounding the top-tier showdown in the Danish Superliga between AGF and FC Midtjylland reached unprecedented levels, making it one of the most-viewed matches in the league’s history.
On average, 330,000 viewers tuned in on TV, with a peak of 432,000 viewers, according to rights holder Viaplay.
This Sunday’s high-stakes encounter achieved the status of the most-watched Superliga match in over three decades, marking a significant event without the presence of FC Copenhagen or Brondby.
For Viaplay, this match stands out as their highest-rated Superliga clash since Brondby’s defeat to AGF in May 2024 at Brondby Stadium.
“These figures are absolutely astounding, and we couldn’t be prouder. The competition for the championship in Danish football truly captivates our audience. We are delighted that, as the rights holders, we can facilitate breaking viewership records. This achievement is rewarding not only for us at Viaplay but also for Danish football as a whole,” remarked Rune Knudsen, sports director at Viaplay, in conversation with Bold.dk.
“Interestingly, this occurs in a season where both Brondby and FC Copenhagen are notably underperforming,” he added.
With just three rounds remaining in the Danish Superliga, the excitement is far from over.
