The anticipation surrounding the intense showdown in the Danish Superliga between AGF and FC Midtjylland skyrocketed, resulting in the match being one of the most-viewed in the league’s history.
On average, 330,000 viewers tuned in to watch on television, with the numbers peaking at 432,000, according to the broadcasting rights holder, Viaplay.
This thrilling encounter on Sunday became the most-watched Superliga match in at least the last 30 years, notably without any involvement from FC Copenhagen or Brøndby.
For Viaplay, it marked their highest viewership for a Superliga match since Brøndby was defeated by AGF in May 2024 at Brøndby Stadium.
“These figures are absolutely astonishing, and we take immense pride in them. The race for the championship in Danish football captivates the nation. We’re thrilled as rights holders to help set new viewership records. This achievement is not only fulfilling for us at Viaplay but also significant for Danish football as a whole.”
“Interestingly, this is occurring in a season where both Brøndby and FC Copenhagen are not performing at their best,” remarked Rune Knudsen, Viaplay’s sports director, to Bold.dk.
With only three rounds remaining in the Danish Superliga, the excitement is far from over.
