In a revealing press conference, Craig Bellamy expressed his disappointment with the team and assured that significant changes are on the horizon after another heavy defeat to South Sydney.
At the half-time mark, the Rabbitohs were leading by a commanding 24-0. Bellamy was seen pacing around the sheds, engrossed in his notebook and refraining from engaging with anyone.
The dressing room seemed divided, with the forwards and backs showing different levels of eagerness to regroup, but it was the middle players who responded first.
These players appeared ready to head out, but Bellamy instructed them to hold back as he delivered a powerful message. The coach then stormed out in frustration.

However, Bellamy’s words failed to inspire a change in performance, resulting in a 48-6 loss for the Storm, marking their sixth consecutive defeat.
After the match, Harry Grant spoke to Fox League, revealing that the coach was “filthy” with the team’s effort.
“Our completion rate was around 55 or 60 per cent, while theirs was considerably higher, making it tough for us,” he explained.
“He was particularly frustrated with our halves, reminding us that we’re the ones out there. We really fell short in responding to that challenge. We managed to create some chances but failed to execute, which is something we need to seriously address.”

During the press conference, Bellamy did not hold back his criticism.
“It certainly does hurt; I’ve probably never felt so embarrassed in my rugby league career,” he admitted.
“There are definitely some aspects that the off-field staff, myself included, need to improve upon … [but] the lack of effort shown today, especially on Anzac Day, is nothing short of humiliating. I can’t express it any more clearly than that.”

Bellamy acknowledged previous losing streaks in his career but feels the current situation is particularly disheartening. Earlier this month, the Panthers handed them a crushing 50-10 defeat, followed by a 38-14 loss to the Warriors at home.
“Tonight was particularly striking in comparison to our earlier losses,” he admitted.
The coach signalled that changes were imminent for the team, stating, “I’ve stuck with the same group largely over the past six weeks, and perhaps it’s time to mix things up.”
“While we don’t have an abundance of players with first-grade experience, we will identify a few who are eager to step up and give it their all.”
When asked about whether he feels supported by his players, Bellamy acknowledged, “That’s a valid point; perhaps I don’t,” before being quickly supported by Grant.

“Absolutely he does; that’s a foolish question. You don’t need to ask him that. He’s a humble coach and will undoubtedly reflect on these results, but no one puts in the hard yards quite like Craig. He’s here at the club every morning, working diligently,” Grant interjected.
Bellamy then reiterated the shared responsibility between players and coaches for the team’s current performance.
