Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly set to remain at the club amid rising calls for the Dutchman’s departure.
Following his triumph in the Premier League during his first year with the Reds, the 47-year-old has faced considerable scrutiny this season, particularly for failing to compete with the league’s top sides. Currently, Liverpool sits in fifth place, 15 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
As per Sky Sports, Slot is poised to continue as Liverpool’s manager despite a disappointing league performance and the absence of any silverware this season. With a 7-point buffer between Liverpool and Chelsea, the club is well-placed to secure a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League group stage.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher commented on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, suggesting that Slot’s position appears secure.
“There is a division among Liverpool fans regarding whether he should stay or leave, but the feedback I’m receiving indicates that Slot is likely to remain in charge next season if they achieve Champions League qualification, which seems quite feasible right now,” he noted during the broadcast.
Earlier in April, Slot expressed feeling fully supported by both the board and fans: “Everyone at the club understands our current situation, but I still sense their complete backing. As odd as it might sound, I also feel a great deal of support from the fans,” he stated in a press conference prior to the match against Fulham on April 11th.

Across all competitions in the 2025/26 season, Liverpool has played over 52 matches, securing 27 victories while suffering 18 defeats, finding the back of the net 94 times and conceding 71 goals. Recently, they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, who triumphed 4-0 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.
Arne Slot’s contract with Liverpool extends until June 2027.
