Denmark’s prolific forward, Pernille Harder from Bayern Munich, is a major doubt for the pivotal World Cup qualifier against Italy at Parken Stadium this Saturday following a head collision during the 2-1 victory over Sweden in Gothenburg.
The triumph over Sweden came at a significant cost, as Pernille Harder departed the pitch in the 60th minute, nursing an ice pack on her injured nose after the incident.
With the crucial World Cup qualifier looming, the Danish squad is set to take on Italy in Copenhagen tomorrow afternoon.
“At this moment, everything is progressing well, and she’s sticking to the recovery plan, but with such a tight turnaround between matches, it really is about assessing her condition day by day. The final decision will be made right up to the deadline,” stated national team coach Jakob Michelsen.
The uncertainty surrounding Pernille Harder has naturally led the national coach to explore alternative options; however, he emphasised that there is no one who compares to Harder in terms of skill.
“We’re hopeful that she’ll be fit and ready to start the match. If not, it’s our responsibility to identify the best possible replacement,” added Jakob Michelsen.
