Just days after ousting Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid to secure a spot in the Champions League semi-finals, Bayern Munich has the chance to cap off a remarkable week by clinching the Bundesliga title this Sunday.
Currently 12 points ahead with five matches left and boasting a goal difference of +78, Bayern’s 35th league title appears all but guaranteed.
They could wrap up the championship in front of their home supporters against Stuttgart, who sit third in the table, provided they achieve a better result than Borussia Dortmund against sixth-placed Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Having just delivered a stunning performance against Real Madrid, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany might consider resting several of his key players, especially with a German Cup semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen just three days away.
While the leaders look set for a 13th title in 14 seasons, they haven’t reached the German Cup final since 2020.
Although another league title seems inevitable, they might find victory elusive as Stuttgart’s current form means a win this Sunday is far from assured.
Since their defeat to Bayern back in December, Stuttgart have suffered only two losses in their last 16 league matches.
It’s also worth noting that this might not be the last encounter between the two teams this season.
With Stuttgart set to face Freiburg on Thursday in their German Cup semi-final, there’s potential for a fourth showdown this season in the final at Berlin later in May.

Bayern began the season with a 2-1 victory at Stuttgart in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup back in August.
Stuttgart forward Jamie Leweling, who has managed an impressive tally of seven goals and seven assists in the league this season, stated his team would aim to play an attacking style in the leaders’ territory.
“You need to play with confidence,” Leweling expressed on the Bundesliga website. “It’s essential to be courageous, but not foolish, as they capitalise on every mistake.”
“You must stay composed; play with conviction.”
