Sydney FC has announced today that promising young midfielder Claire Corbett has penned a new two-year contract extension, securing her place at the club until 2028.
The 16-year-old Australian Under-17 international has swiftly made a name for herself as one of the standout young talents in the A-League Women competition, with this latest agreement ensuring another exceptional player emerges from Sydney FC’s esteemed female development system.
Corbett’s ascent to the senior squad has been remarkable, making her debut as a substitute against Melbourne City earlier this January.
She continued to be a regular inclusion in matchday squads before earning a starting position for the last six games of the season—an impressive feat for someone of her age.
In total, Corbett made 11 appearances during her inaugural season, highlighting her increasing significance within the team and her considerable long-term potential.
Head Coach James Slaveski expressed the club’s excitement at retaining Corbett and supporting her growth in the Sky Blue jersey.
“Claire is an outstanding young talent with a very bright future ahead of her,” he remarked.
“She exhibits excellent composure on the ball, possesses great distribution, and is very confident in possession—traits that align perfectly with our style of play.
“Her maturity at such a young age is impressive, and if she maintains her hard work and continues to develop, she has all the qualities needed to represent the Matildas for many years to come.

“We’re thrilled to see her continue her journey with us.”
Corbett expressed her enthusiasm about extending her contract with Sydney FC and building on her impressive debut season.
“I’m incredibly happy and excited to have signed this new deal,” she commented.
“Making the jump to the first team this season and then being acknowledged with a new contract means the world to me.
“The Sydney FC pathway through the Female Development Program has been instrumental in getting me to this point, and I’m truly thankful for the support I’ve received along the way.
“I’m eager to keep learning, improving, and hopefully helping the team achieve success in the years to come in Sky Blue.”
Corbett’s contract extension underscores Sydney FC’s dedication to nurturing elite young talent and ensuring the club remains a leader in the development of women’s football in Australia.
