Claire Redfern has been appointed to undertake official responsibilities at all Shannons SpeedSeries events in 2026 as she advances to Level 2 of the SRO Empower Program in a Peer Mentor role.
As part of a new initiative under the FIA Girls on Track programme, Redfern will serve as a Peer Mentor for current Level 1 participants during this year’s SpeedSeries. This position will also grant her valuable, hands-on experience in the field.
The Level 2 Peer Mentor is tasked with being a leader, point of contact, and a support figure for newcomers to the Level 1 program.
Having participated in the GT Festival at Phillip Island in March, Redfern expressed her enthusiasm for this incredible and fulfilling opportunity.
“After last year’s experience, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I’m thrilled to be chosen to join the SRO event team as part of the program,” Redfern stated.
“This not only reinforces my passion for a career in motorsport but also enhances my skillset, making this year feel both inspiring and affirming.
“I view this as a unique chance within the Shannons SpeedSeries to continue honing my abilities while gaining deeper insights into such a dynamic industry.”

In her role as a Peer Mentor, Redfern will also assist in creating and managing the participant roster for each event, alongside attending an online pre-event briefing prior to every occasion.
Additionally, Redfern will collaborate with the SRO Event & Category management team on various operational aspects, including accreditation, VIP hospitality, team hospitality, category management, media centre activities, and race control as specified in the event roster.
“At Phillip Island, the Level 1 participants and I engaged in numerous roles that provided a comprehensive experience in event operations,” Redfern remarked.
“This involved aiding media coordination, such as crafting Instagram posts and writing race reports, assisting in hospitality, and ensuring the smooth operation of the event – including the thrilling podium celebrations.”
“Working closely with various departments gave me a broader perspective on how each function contributes to the overall success of the event, and the essential efforts from every individual in creating a successful race weekend.”

Charlie Barlow, Development Manager at Motorsport Australia, underscored the importance of expanding opportunities through the FIA Girls on Track programme.
“We’re delighted to see the Empower Program continue to evolve, providing clear pathways for young women in motorsport to acquire valuable, practical experience,” Barlow commented.
“Claire’s advancement into the mentorship role is a brilliant example of how the program is fostering confidence in our next generation of industry leaders.”
Matleena Pukkila, Series Manager at SRO Motorsports Australia, emphasised the significance of integrating emerging talent into the industry.
“The pilot programme from last year demonstrated its potential, with participants gaining meaningful work experience, establishing industry connections, and stepping into new roles,” Pukkila said.
“We’re excited to collaborate with Claire again following her exceptional contributions as a Level 1 participant in 2025, as she transitions into a Level 2 mentor role in 2026. Together with Motorsport Australia, SRO seeks to utilise the Shannons SpeedSeries platform to create opportunities for new talent in the industry.”
