Wellington Phoenix’s promising young talent, Pia Vlok, has been nominated for the March/April Young Footballer of the Year award in the Ninja A-League.
The 17-year-old forward has emerged as one of the standout players in the league this season, playing a vital role for the Nix.
Finishing the regular season with an impressive tally of six goals and three assists, Vlok was instrumental in Bev Priestman’s squad as they secured a historic second-place finish on the ladder, marking their first-ever entry into finals football.

Vlok is in contention alongside Melbourne City’s Shelby McMahon, who previously received the Young Footballer of the Year nomination for November.
Brisbane Roar players Daisy Brown and Grace Kuilamu earned their places on the shortlist after receiving the December and January nominations, while Newcastle Jets’ Emma Dundas was nominated for February.
The Ninja A-League Young Footballer of the Year award is an annual accolade presented to the competition’s top young player aged 19 and under from Australia or New Zealand.

The nomination of Vlok for the March/April Young Footballer of the Year was made by a panel selected by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL).
This panel consists of a variety of media and football experts who cast their votes on a 3-2-1 basis at the conclusion of each nominated month during the season.
A wildcard nominee will be announced later this week ahead of the voting for the Dolan Warren Awards.
