Toni Kroos is reportedly on the brink of rejoining Real Madrid. A recent article from the Spanish publication AS highlights that the 2014 World Cup champion is poised to take on a significant role within the sporting framework of the Spanish giants starting this summer. However, the specifics of the 36-year-old’s position remain uncertain.
Kroos concluded his illustrious career in 2024 after spending a decade with Los Blancos. During his tenure at Real Madrid, he claimed the Champions League title five times and secured the league championship on four occasions.
Nonetheless, the last two years have been challenging for the club, failing to live up to lofty expectations. This season saw them part ways with coach Xabi Alonso earlier than anticipated, and they now face the disturbing likelihood of ending the season without silverware.
Real Madrid has already been eliminated from the cup and, with seven league matches remaining, they find themselves trailing defending champions FC Barcelona by nine points.
In the Champions League quarter-finals, Real lost the first leg against Bayern Munich 2-1, and they are set to travel to Germany for the return leg on Wednesday.
Real face crucial encounter in Munich
“Munich or the abyss,” declared AS following the disappointing 1-1 draw against FC Girona on Friday night.
“Our focus now is on Wednesday; we must give our all,” stated coach Alvaro Arbeloa, keen to move beyond the recent setback swiftly.
“Wednesday is our match. That much is clear. We need to pour all our energy into it and travel to Germany with complete confidence.”
Though Toni Kroos won’t be part of the squad just yet, he could make his anticipated return as early as this summer.
