Last season’s remarkable Allsvenskan champions, Mjallby, have already suffered more defeats this season than they did in the entire 2025 campaign, succumbing 2-0 to newly-promoted Orgryte. Meanwhile, Hacken claimed victory in the first Gothenburg derby of the season against Goteborg, while Vasteras fought to a draw with Elfsborg.
Mjallby 0-2 Orgryte
Orgryte’s return to the top division started positively with a draw against Malmo, but things improved further as they became the first team to triumph in an Allsvenskan match at Strandvallen since 2024.
Anton Andreasson capitalised on a pass from Tobias Sana, advancing just 10 yards into Mjallby’s territory before his deflected shot slipped past Robin Wallinder in goal, giving Orgryte the lead after 21 minutes.
Five minutes later, Mjallby failed to clear a corner, and the ball fumbled around the penalty area, with Mikael Dyrestam nodding it forward. Jerome Tibbling reacted quickest to poke home a second goal from close range.
Abdoulie Manneh had two shots expertly blocked early in the second half, and a free-kick from Aki Samuelsen was tipped around the post by Hampus Gustafsson. Mjallby struggled to find a way back into the match, suffering back-to-back losses without finding the back of the net under Karl Marius Aksum.
Goteborg 0-2 Hacken
Hackens secured local bragging rights on matchday two, defeating Goteborg 2-0 on their home turf, and dealing the hosts a blow as they finished the match with 10 players.
A quick attack in the 17th minute set the tone, with the ball played wide to Julius Lindberg on the left, who squared it across the Goteborg six-yard box for Gustav Lindgren to tap in.
The hosts missed a golden opportunity to equalise midway through the first half when Filip Helander brought down Adam Bergmark-Wiberg in the box, but Tobias Heintz’s penalty went wide of the mark.
Lindberg squandered a brilliant chance to increase the lead in the second half, but Hacken ultimately sealed the win six minutes from time when Amor Layouni sent in a cross from the left wing, and Mikkel Rygaard volleyed it into the net.
In the dying moments, Rockson Yeboah received a straight red card for a challenge on Sanders Ngabo, adding to a disappointing day for IFK, who now sit alongside Mjallby on zero points after two matches.
Vasteras 2-2 Elfsborg
Vasteras, Elfsborg, Hacken, and Orgryte sit at the top early on with four points each, although Vasteras could have had more, having conceded a last-minute equaliser at home.
After a scoreless first half, Elfsborg broke the deadlock just after the interval when a deep cross from Rufai Mohammed found Niklas Hult at the back post, who controlled the ball and struck it in off the crossbar.
However, with 73 minutes gone, Vasteras equalised when Mikkel Ladefoged flicked in Marcus Baggesen’s corner at the near post, and just eight minutes later, they took the lead when Mamadou Diagne dispossessed an Elfsborg player and set up Ladefoged, who finished with aplomb.
Unfortunately for the Superettan champions, they were denied victory in stoppage time, as Thomas Isherwood’s ball across the edge of the area was hit on the half-volley by Ari Sigurpalsson, bringing Elfsborg level once more.
