Co-coach Khalid Ben Yusuf has commended his Kaizer Chiefs squad for their determination, as they came from behind to secure a 1-0 victory over struggling Orbit College in their Betway Premiership encounter on Monday.
This win marks the third consecutive victory for AmaKhosi, who now have a total of 39 points from 21 matches and have surged into third position in the league, which would see them qualify for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.
This was the first occasion that Chiefs have won a league match after going a goal down since their 2-1 triumph against Stellenbosch back in January 2025.
“We anticipated a tough match, as is usually the case when facing a team fighting to remain in the league,” Ben Yusuf stated.
“Indeed, it was a challenging game. Our opening 30 minutes were not up to standard, which led to us conceding the first goal. The tempo was too slow; we lost 80% of the challenges in the initial 15 minutes. To secure victory, you must compete and fight for every challenge.”

“However, our response was commendable, which showcased a positive mindset from the players. The final 15 minutes of the first half and throughout the second half, we found our rhythm and demonstrated our quality, playing at a quicker pace and driving forward,” the Chiefs co-coach elaborated.
“We generated numerous chances in the second half, and I couldn’t be prouder of the players for their efforts. Moving forward, we must maintain this momentum and focus on the upcoming game. As I’ve mentioned previously, we approach each match as if they are cup finals and must now turn our attention to the next match.”
Ben Yusuf noted that achieving three wins in a row is crucial for building momentum.
“It’s vital for our confidence, the team spirit, and for the fans. We must strive to maintain this positive moment and continue to fight, holding onto this good energy.”

Chiefs will aim to extend their winning streak when they face TS Galaxy at home this Sunday at Soccer City.
“From tomorrow, we’ll begin our preparations for the next game. It’s crucial that we concentrate solely on our performance because I believe that if we play as we did today, we can secure victory in the next match,” Ben Yusuf emphasised.
“However, everything comes with its challenges. We need to prepare diligently and stay focused. While it’s essential to relish the three points earned today, tomorrow we must redirect our attention and ensure we’re focused on what lies ahead.”
