Serie A front-runners Inter Milan snapped a three-match winless streak in the league in spectacular fashion, demolishing Roma 5-2 at San Siro. This result leaves La Lupa with just one victory in their last seven outings across all competitions.
Roma aimed to secure back-to-back league wins for the first time since mid-January, but their hopes were dashed within the opening minute of the match.
Marcus Thuram chased down a pass from Manuel Akanji on the right and squared it to Lautaro Martínez, who cleverly maneuvered past his defender to put the Nerazzurri in front.
Mile Svilar had little chance with that strike, though he managed to thwart further attempts from Hakan Calhanoglu and another shot from Martínez to prevent an early disaster for his side.

The visitors slowly managed to assert themselves and nearly found an equaliser midway through the first half when Yann Sommer made an unbelievable save, denying Donyell Malen’s header following a free-kick.
Malen soon had another attempt from distance that sailed just wide, and it remained the only real chance for either side until Gian Piero Gasperini’s team levelled the score five minutes before half-time.
Devyne Rensch seized Matias Soule’s pass on the left flank and delivered a tempting cross, allowing Gianluca Mancini to head it home.
However, the equaliser was short-lived as Çalhanoglu unleashed a stunning strike from over 30 yards just before the half-time whistle, catching Svilar off-guard and restoring the home side’s lead.
That goal shifted the momentum back in Inter’s favour, as they quickly extended their advantage with two more goals in the opening ten minutes of the second half.
Firstly, Thuram won a header against Rensch, resulting in a three-on-two situation that allowed him to link up with Martínez once again, who netted his second of the match.
Then it was Thuram’s turn to score; he rose highest to flick Calhanoglu’s corner into the net beyond Sommer.
Shortly after the hour mark, Nicolo Barella retrieved a loose ball and aimed to set up Thuram for another effort, but when his pass ricocheted back to him, the Roma defence parted open, allowing Barella to dash through and score the fifth goal.
Roma did manage to restore some dignity around 20 minutes from time when Lorenzo Pellegrini finished neatly following a well-constructed move by Malen that stretched the Inter defence. However, Denzel Dumfries squandered a golden opportunity to add to the humiliation, while Svilar made a stellar save to deny Pio Esposito.
Inter have now claimed victory in 10 of their last 12 meetings with Roma, while the Giallorossi find themselves winless in five away matches in Serie A.
