TS Galaxy has secured their spot in the final of the 2026 Nedbank Cup after triumphing over second-tier Milford FC 4-3 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw in their semi-final clash on Sunday.
The encounter took place under scorching conditions at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, and when extra time failed to determine a winner, the match proceeded to penalties.
The 2019 champions, Galaxy, are set to face Durban City in the final on May 2, after City narrowly defeated Casric Stars 1-0 in their semi-final on Saturday.
Milford FC struck first in the 11th minute, with Bulelani Sigomoshe making a run down the right flank, delivering a low cross that was skillfully converted by Siphosethu Ndlabi using a backheel finish.
This marked Ndlabi’s second goal of the Nedbank Cup season, having previously scored in the Round of 16 against Mkhambathi.
Interestingly, this was the first goal that The Rockets conceded in this year’s tournament, having achieved three consecutive clean sheets prior.
The goal came somewhat against the run of play, considering Galaxy had started the match brightly, but they managed to equalise in the 55th minute when veteran striker Victor Letsoalo found the net.
Letsoalo headed the ball home from a cross delivered by Seluleko Mahlambi from the left wing.
This goal brought his career total in the competition to nine, adding to his earlier goal against Marumo Gallants this season.
In the first semi-final on Saturday, City capitalised on an early own goal from Sphamandla Mlilo to secure their place in the Nedbank Cup final for the second time, having previously lost to Free State Stars in the 2018 edition.
Galaxy were crowned champions seven years ago when they, as a second-tier team, overcame Kaizer Chiefs in the final held in Durban. They will be keen to add a second title to their cabinet, while City are on the hunt for their first triumph in South Africa’s FA Cup.
