Collingwood star Nick Daicos was a surprising late withdrawal ahead of the club’s showdown with Brisbane on Easter Thursday.
The talented midfielder arrived at the Gabba with his calf heavily bandaged, struggling to move comfortably while warming up on the field.
Ultimately, the Magpies decided to pull him from the lineup at the last minute, bringing in young on-baller Ed Allan as his replacement.

This is a significant setback for the Magpies, who are already without veteran players Scott Pendlebury and Darcy Moore.
Daicos is now watching the game unfold from a corporate box.
SEN’s Gerard Whateley remarked, “With Pendlebury and Moore out, and now losing Daicos, it’s a daunting challenge for Collingwood.”
Brisbane are also missing several key contributors, including Hugh McCluggage, Harris Andrews, and Darcy Gardiner, who are all sidelined.
Former Adelaide star Josh Jenkins has called on Jordan De Goey to take charge and step up in Daicos’ absence.
