Carlton’s head coach Michael Voss has revealed that Elijah Hollands is feeling “quite shattered” and “emotional” following his performance during Thursday night’s match.
Footage circulating on social media showed Hollands behaving unusually during Carlton’s encounter with Collingwood at the MCG, which the Magpies clinched with a score of 13.10 (88) to 12.11 (83).
Hollands only registered one disposal while playing 60 per cent of the game.
“I had a good conversation with him; he was understandably emotional after the match,” Voss remarked.
“He didn’t execute well and struggled to find his rhythm throughout the game.

“He was obviously very disappointed with his performance, which was significant for the night,” he continued.
“He feels like he has let people down, but it’s crucial that we provide ongoing support in moments like these.”
Hollands concluded the match on the bench.
“He was clearly not happy with his effort and how he was playing,” Voss added.
“In the final quarter, it’s essential to determine the right mix of players on the field as the match nears its conclusion, and unfortunately, he wasn’t having the best night.
“We had ongoing discussions with him, and we believed that the best strategy was to give him a break from the field.”
