Coach Hansi Flick has emphasised the need for Barcelona to remain vigilant as they approach the climax of the LaLiga title race. This warning comes after his team staged a remarkable 4-3 comeback victory over Celta Vigo last Saturday.
The current LaLiga leaders had to rally after being down 3-1 to secure the win, marking their second consecutive match where they conceded three goals, following a 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-finals the previous week.
Barcelona sits atop the standings with 73 points from 32 matches, enjoying a four-point buffer over their closest rivals, Real Madrid, who also faced a tough challenge to secure a narrow 1-0 win against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
“We must continuously strive to improve. Following our matches against Dortmund and Celta, we need to perform significantly better. We possess the talent to defeat any opponent, but we must execute it effectively,” Flick remarked to the media as they prepare for a home clash with Mallorca on Tuesday.
“The resilience shown in the comeback against Celta is the mentality we need moving forward.
“LaLiga is highly competitive, and the goal remains to avoid dropping any points, although that is no easy feat. We witnessed that against Celta. I hope this serves as a wake-up call — it’s a long journey ahead. Madrid are formidable contenders, and they share the same ambitions.”

On Tuesday, Barcelona will welcome Mallorca, who are currently sitting seventh and vying for a place in European competition next season.
“Mallorca are having an impressive season and have a chance to qualify for Europe. It’s going to be a challenging match as they defend effectively and excel in transitions,” Flick noted.
Considering the upcoming Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid this weekend, Flick hinted at possible squad rotation against Mallorca, while also calling on the frustrated squad members to seize the opportunity to showcase their talents if given the chance.
During the encounter against Celta, footage appeared to capture Ansu Fati expressing frustration by kicking a water cooler after not being substituted despite being warmed up, while defensive player Hector Fort had a tense moment with Flick following the match.
“I can understand their frustration; I was a player once too. Everyone wants to earn their spot and contribute to the team’s success,” explained the German coach.
“While I understand their emotions, I don’t condone the reactions… We need to celebrate victories, and the response should happen on the field, not off it.”
