Following a triumphant launch at the Race of Champions (ROC) in Sydney earlier this year, the FIA Girls on Track – Empower program is set to broaden its reach with five distinct experiences at the Shannons SpeedSeries, in collaboration with SRO Motorsports Australia.
This initiative invites young women aged between 18 and 22 to gain hands-on experiences during the Shannons SpeedSeries events scheduled for 2025.
Apply now for the FIA Girls on Track – Empower program.
The events, taking place at venues such as Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, Sydney Motorsport Park, Queensland Raceway, Sandown International Raceway, and The Bend Motorsport Park, will provide invaluable behind-the-scenes access and insights into motorsport events.
Each event will select five participants, offering them a chance to experience various roles in corporate hospitality, media, motorsport operations, and event coordination.
Natalie Chung, one of the 11 participants from the inaugural FIA Girls on Track – Empower program at ROC in March, shared her experiences.
“I was part of the Passenger Team at ROC, responsible for ensuring passengers were fitted with overalls and helmets and prepared for their laps,” Chung explained.
“My routine included making sure all passengers had completed their waivers and consent forms, assisting them in getting suited up quickly, and pairing them according to their weight category for the rides.”

Chung also pointed out the positive impact of the FIA Girls on Track – Empower programme on her professional growth.
“This programme has connected me with individuals who have extensive experience in the industry, including those who have participated in major sporting events like the Olympics,” Chung remarked.
“I gained insights into their career journeys and built invaluable relationships that could open doors for future opportunities.”
“To anyone considering participating in future Empower events, I would say seize the opportunity. It’s a rare chance, and I learned so much from conversing with the staff and understanding their career paths.”
“Remember to cherish every moment; it goes by much too quickly.”

Following its successful launch, the Motorsport Australia programme will continue to collaborate with SRO Motorsports Australia for the Shannons SpeedSeries.
Abi Hay, the Head of Sporting and Business Development at SRO Motorsports Australia, emphasised the significance of the FIA Girls on Track – Empower programme in the forthcoming Shannons SpeedSeries events.
“The entire SRO Motorsports Australia team is excited to back the Girls on Track Empower programme, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming a new generation of gifted women into this incredible sport,” Hay stated.
“Opportunities in motorsport are highly sought-after, and we aim to create memorable experiences for these young women at the Shannons SpeedSeries rounds that will contribute to their professional development.”
“Many women have successfully transitioned into more prominent roles locally and internationally as a direct consequence of the Girls on Track programme, and we hope to provide a foundation for another cohort of remarkable individuals.”
While positions for the initial round at Phillip Island are now filled, registrations are currently open for the remaining rounds. The application deadline for Sydney Motorsport Park is Friday, 11 April, with the remaining rounds closing on Friday, 18 April.

Eligibility and Application Process
The FIA Girls on Track – Empower programme is open to young women residing in the same state as the event being held, ensuring equal opportunities for all applicants without the burden of travel expenses.
Entries for these exclusive opportunities are limited, with selection based on the quality of applications received.
Interested individuals must submit a resume and cover letter through the application form and, if not already obtained, a Motorsport Australia Officials Licence along with completion of the General Officials Training Module.
