It started with Adam Treloar, followed by Jason Johannisen, and now yet another veteran from the Western Bulldogs has been sidelined by injury.
Defender Liam Jones has sustained a hamstring injury, with the club announcing that the seasoned player will be unavailable for up to two months.
However, teammate Rory Lobb, another defender, has reassured that the team’s spirit remains intact despite losing three key players ahead of the 2025 season.
The Bulldogs recently convened at their pre-season camp in Maroochydore, where team leaders encouraged the younger players to come together for what promises to be a critical season.
With Treloar expected to be out for as long as ten weeks due to ongoing calf issues, Johannisen facing surgery for a hamstring strain, and young forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan on personal leave, challenges are mounting for coach Luke Beveridge.

Despite these setbacks, Lobb mentioned that the time spent together interstate has helped maintain a positive atmosphere among the group following their disappointing exit from the 2024 finals at the hands of Hawthorn.
“We’ve got a strong mix of senior players and a talented group of youngsters,” Lobb stated on Sunday.
“It’s been great to bond outside of our homes and spend quality time together.”
Lobb noted that the team has found “excellent support” in Noosa, aiming to reconnect and strive for another premiership, reminiscent of their 2016 success.
“Everyone has been going out for coffee in the mornings and heading to the beach for a swim before training,” Lobb revealed.
“It’s about fostering camaraderie in a more relaxed setting.”
The Bulldogs will face North Melbourne in their opening match of the season at Marvel Stadium on March 15.
