According to Racing HQ presenter Steve Hewlett, the distinguished jockey has been transported to the hospital and is set to undergo surgery following the incident.
“I just spoke with James Orman. A horse bitten off the tip of his finger this morning,” he posted on the social media platform X.
“He was removing a tongue tie at the time and has just arrived at the hospital. Surgery is pending.”
Orman provided a brief comment to Punters.com.au regarding the injury.
“It just took the tip off while I was putting the tongue tie on,” he explained.
“I definitely felt it, and I’m currently getting X-rays done.”
In his career thus far, Orman has ridden nearly 1300 winners and finished second to William Pike in last year’s national jockeys’ championship.
He recently competed in Dubai, further solidifying his reputation in the sport.
