Parramatta Eels centre Will Penisini enjoyed a victorious evening at the NRL judiciary, being acquitted of a grade one careless high tackle.
Initially facing an $1800 fine from the Eels’ match against the Titans, Penisini made the uncommon decision to appeal the ruling.
Had he been found guilty, he risked an increased penalty of $2500.
The incident occurred in the 12th minute of the Eels’ disappointing defeat to the Gold Coast, where it was determined that Penisini made high contact with Beau Fermor.
As Fermor was tackled low by Mitch Moses, Penisini’s high tackle resulted in him being penalised.

Penisini expressed his dissatisfaction with the ruling, and commentary on the matter was minimal.
He was the sole player charged from that match, despite Jayden Campbell being reported for dangerous contact; however, Campbell’s tackle was not considered severe enough to warrant a fine by the match review committee.
