Parramatta Eels centre Will Penisini emerged victorious at the NRL judiciary, as he was acquitted of a grade one careless high tackle charge.
Initially slapped with an $1800 fine following the Eels’ match against the Titans, Penisini took the unusual step of appealing the ruling.
If found guilty, he faced the possibility of a $2500 penalty.
The incident occurred in the 12th minute of Parramatta’s disheartening defeat to the Gold Coast, when it was determined that Penisini made high contact with Beau Fermor.
Fermor was already being tackled low by Mitch Moses when Penisini’s intervention from above drew the penalty for high contact.

The centre expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling, noting a lack of significant commentary surrounding the decision.
Interestingly, Penisini was the sole player charged from that match, despite Jayden Campbell being reported for dangerous contact. However, the match review committee concluded that Campbell’s tackle did not merit a fine.
