British tennis player Fran Jones was forced to leave the court in a wheelchair after collapsing during her match at the Colsanitas Cup in Colombia.
Ranked 129th in the world, she was competing against Argentina’s Julia Riera in the first round when she collapsed while attempting to serve at 5-3 down in the deciding set.
Unfortunately, she was unable to finish her serving motion and fell to the ground, grasping her head.
Medical personnel swiftly attended to her, and she was subsequently taken off the court in a wheelchair, retiring from the match.
“Francesca Jones has withdrawn from her match against Julia Riera due to a physical issue, with the score at 6-2, 5-7, 5-3 in favour of the Argentinian,” officials from the tournament stated.
“We wish the British tennis player a quick recovery.”

Jones has openly discussed her drive to defy expectations throughout her tennis career.
Born with the rare condition Ectrodactyly Ectodermal Dysplasia Syndrome, she competes without two fingers and three toes.
Doctors had previously advised her that pursuing a professional tennis career was unrealistic, but she insists that this only strengthened her resolve.

“I’ve encountered experiences that many others haven’t at my age, which I believe have shaped who I am today,” she remarked in 2021.
“These experiences have undoubtedly influenced my mental resilience and overall mindset, although I think everyone faces their own challenges and overcomes adversity in unique ways. Each person’s story contributes to their identity.”
When discussing her motivation, Jones shared that proving her doctor wrong became a driving force in her life.
“His comments significantly impacted my choices and commitment to my career thus far.
“Above all, I’ve always wanted to make my parents proud.”
Jones has achieved a career-high ranking of No. 123.
