Benfica’s winger, Andreas Schjelderup, has successfully obtained a visa for the United States, enabling him to represent Norway in the World Cup, despite receiving a 14-day suspended prison sentence related to sharing an explicit video involving minors.
Norwegian international Andreas Schjelderup has been granted a visa to travel to the United States, as confirmed by the Norwegian Football Association (NFF) to Dagbladet.no.
Back in November of the previous year, Schjelderup was sentenced in Denmark to 14 days in prison for distributing a video featuring sexual content involving individuals under the age of 18.
In his testimony during the court proceedings in Denmark, Schjelderup remarked:
“I received the video on Snapchat as a misguided joke. I subsequently shared it with a group of four friends, perpetuating this poor joke. I only viewed it briefly; I didn’t watch it in its entirety, but I recognised that it was sexual in nature and involved two young men.”
The winger, who has been in outstanding form for Benfica and successfully converted a penalty in the derby against Sporting CP, has been placed on a one-year probation but is not required to complete any community service.
