Bulldogs standout Aaron Naughton was taken off the field on a stretcher at Marvel Stadium following a brutal collision with the Swans during their round seven encounter.
In a clash with Will Edwards from Sydney, Naughton fell awkwardly onto his head and was swiftly transported by medicab for further assessment.
Despite the alarming incident, Naughton managed to give a thumbs-up to the supportive crowd. However, on the anniversary of their iconic 2016 premiership victory, the Western Bulldogs are struggling with a lengthy injury list.
“It’s been a tough stretch for the Bulldogs over the past three weeks,” remarked Matt Hill during the Fox Sports commentary.

During the match, Bulldogs officials confirmed that Naughton would not return but shared some positive news.
“Our initial assessment gives us hope that Aaron has sidestepped serious injuries,” the club announced.
“He will undergo further evaluation in the coming days.”

Despite being on the back foot, a beleaguered Western Bulldogs outfit made a bright start at Marvel Stadium, unexpectedly challenging a seemingly superior Sydney side from the very first bounce.
A heavily bandaged Marcus Bontempelli was a late inclusion for the Dogs and within the first six minutes, Naughton along with Will Lewis and Josh Dolan all converted to stake the Bulldogs to a 17-point advantage.
However, the Sydney Swans rallied, with Charlie Curnow and Joel Amartey leading the charge.
Between them, they quickly notched seven goals for the Swans, with all their first-half goals coming before halftime, sending their team into the break leading 7.10 (52) to 6.3 (39).
