AGF, the leaders of the Superliga, have announced that should they qualify for European football, they will host their home matches at Cepheus Park in Randers.
Currently enjoying a remarkable season, AGF has the opportunity to secure their first Danish championship title in four decades, which would also grant them entry into European club competitions.
However, there is one major hurdle. With the new stadium project, Kongelunden, still underway, AGF is temporarily using a stadium in Vejlby, which doesn’t meet the standards set by the European Football Association (UEFA).
This situation led AGF to strike an agreement with Randers FC, stating that if the Aarhus side qualifies for European play, they will take their European home matches to Cepheus Park, where Randers typically plays their games.
Both clubs have mutually agreed that AGF will lease the Randers facilities for their European fixtures.
“We are grateful to Randers for allowing us to use their stadium, although it will impose financial strain on us as we won’t be able to play at our own venue for potential European matches,” stated AGF’s director, Jacob Nielsen.
The director further clarified that they have engaged in discussions with various stadiums and have taken into account the opinions of the club’s supporters in making this decision.
