John Stones is set to depart Manchester City at the conclusion of the season, marking an emotional farewell after a decade at the club.
During his time with City, Stones has made 293 appearances and secured numerous titles, including the historic treble in 2023, when the team clinched the league, Champions League, and FA Cup in a single season.
In total, he has been instrumental in City’s success, helping secure six Premier League titles, a Champions League victory, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and the old Club World Cup throughout what has been a remarkable chapter with the team.
Stones announced the news via an Instagram post, stating, “They say all good things must come to an end… but this thing we have had has been the greatest, and it will remain a part of me forever.”
The club has also confirmed his exit, as he is set to bid farewell to supporters in the final match of the season against Aston Villa at the Etihad.
“John Stones will leave Manchester City in the summer, concluding a memorable and immensely successful 10-year tenure at the Etihad.”
“Joining City in 2016 as Pep Guardiola’s second signing, the English central defender has gone on to make 293 appearances, showcasing a magnificent decade of service thus far.”
“The 31-year-old’s significant contributions during the club’s most sustained and successful era are beyond doubt.”
The England international is rumoured to be considering a return to Everton as he contemplates his options ahead of the summer transfer window. He joins fellow legend Bernardo Silva in departing the club, marking the end of an era for both players.
