Tom Trbojevic revealed that he was in tears in the locker room after enduring his eighth hamstring injury in just as many seasons. However, he clarified that the thought of retiring from rugby league had never crossed his mind.
The star fullback also expressed his strong support for Kieran Foran, stating that he hopes his former teammate is offered the permanent head coach position at Manly beyond this season.
At 29, Trbojevic is now facing a recovery period of up to eight weeks following yet another hamstring strain, which he sustained early in Manly’s match against North Queensland last Thursday.
Feeling devastated, he looked skyward as he limped off the field in Townsville, later sitting down in the change rooms to process the latest setback.
During an interview broadcasted on 9News on Wednesday night, Danny Weidler inquired if he shed any tears in the locker room, to which Trbojevic responded, “There were a few.”

He has shown flashes of his exceptional talent since winning the Dally M Medal in 2021, yet ongoing injuries have robbed him of the consistency he craves.
“I put in a lot of effort to keep my body in shape, and I have an excellent support team at Manly that I rely on,” Trbojevic stated.
“The desire to step onto the field and play footy is always there.”

Trbojevic suggested that overcoming self-doubt is achievable through hard work and getting back on the field to regain confidence in his abilities.
“For me, as someone who tends to think deeply and overanalyse, I know these feelings may linger,” he noted.
“I wouldn’t say I’m considering quitting. I genuinely dislike letting anyone down.”
The Sea Eagles have made a remarkable turnaround since Kieran Foran stepped in as interim head coach after the dismissal of Anthony Seibold following round five. Under Foran’s guidance, they’ve triumphed over the Dolphins 52-18, secured a win over the Dragons 28-18, and dominated the Cowboys 38-6.

The stark transformation under Foran is evident, with Manly demonstrating newfound energy and commitment, distancing themselves from previous lethargy.
When asked whether he would support Foran’s permanent appointment, Trbojevic eagerly replied that he would “love him to be.”
“What he has achieved in such a short time has been nothing short of extraordinary,” Trbojevic remarked.
“The way the boys have reacted to his leadership and the spirit and determination he has infused back into this jersey is something I would love to see continue with him as the full-time coach.”
“His ability to motivate us and the respect he commands as a person stand out as his key strengths. He has always been one of my favourite players to play alongside due to his approach to the game, and that ethos carries through to his coaching. We appreciate that.”
“He is thoughtful in his communication, excels as a leader and when he speaks, everyone pays attention.”
