Former NSW forward Tevita Pangai Jr has officially signed with Hull KR, the world club champions, for the remainder of the 2026 season.
This marks Pangai Jr’s fourth stop since retiring from the NRL to pursue a boxing career, only to later return briefly to the Dolphins.
After a deal with the Warrington Wolves fell apart prior to the season, and following a few months playing Rugby Union in the South of France, LoveRugbyLeague has reported that the former NRL star-turned-boxer has joined the squad coached by Willie Peters.
During the 2025 season, he appeared in 23 matches for the Catalans Dragons before negotiations for a move to the Wolves began, from which he ultimately withdrew.
This transfer may have significant implications for Hull KR’s roster, as the club is reportedly nearing its salary cap limit.

Recently, Hull KR also secured the services of Peta Hiku on a contract until 2027, while players like Mikey Lewis, Elliot Minchella, and Jez Litten are signed on long-term commitments.
Pangai Jr’s first match with Hull KR will be an intriguing encounter against Sam Burgess’ Wolves, the team he withdrew from during the negotiations.
This match will surely be circled on the calendars of both clubs, especially after Pangai Jr expressed a desire to play under Burgess before deciding against the move.
