A remarkable second-half display propelled Manchester City to a crucial 3-0 triumph over Chelsea in a key weekend for the Premier League title race, extending the Cityzens’ unbeaten streak against their rivals to 13 matches.
The visiting side started strong, but it was Chelsea who soon gained the upper hand and posed a more significant threat.
A quick Blues attack nearly yielded results as Cole Palmer struck the side netting, while Joao Pedro’s attempt took a deflection off Abdukodir Khusanov, leading to a disallowed goal for Marc Cucurella due to offside.
Pedro Neto displayed some skill as he weaved his way into the box but saw his shot saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma. Robert Sanchez was relatively untested until the 34th minute, where he made an excellent save against Bernardo Silva after a cutback from Nico O’Reilly.
O’Reilly was instrumental again moments later when Rayan Cherki received the ball at the edge of the penalty area, though his shot was comfortably saved by Sanchez.

Antoine Semenyo made a darting run inside but just missed the target, while Andrey Santos headed the final chance of the first half wide.
After half-time, the Cityzens came out aggressively, and just six minutes after the restart, they took the lead when O’Reilly outmuscled Santos to head in Cherki’s cross.
Six minutes later, Cherki added to his tally of Premier League assists for the season, reaching 10. He skillfully wove through Chelsea’s defence before setting up Marc Guehi, who found the net with a precise finish.
Following the goal celebrations, O’Reilly was forced to leave the pitch due to injury, but the celebration continued just four minutes after his exit. Jeremy Doku collaborated with Cherki to rob Moises Caicedo of the ball and scored, leading to chants of “Are you watching Arsenal?”
Khusanov nearly found the target with a stunning attempt, but Chelsea showed no signs of fighting back as Donnarumma thwarted Cucurella’s header.
The victory marked the end of City’s run of consecutive Premier League draws and allowed them to take full advantage of Arsenal’s defeat to Bournemouth, now sitting just six points behind the Gunners with a game in hand and a clash against the league leaders next week.
This result also meant Chelsea suffered their third consecutive league defeat, a first for them since May 2023, leaving them four points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool.
